Kabir Carter was born in Los
Angeles and lives in New York. His sound, performance, and installation
work has been presented at
16Beaver, apexart, Bronx Museum of the Arts, Diapason, d.u.m.b.o. arts
center, PS122 Gallery, Share, Socrates Sculpture Park, and The Stone in
New York, as well as in California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey,
and Pennsylvania. He has staged realizations of his installations in
public places since 2002, and has been a member of the analog sound
synthesis ensemble Analogos since 2005. Carter has been an
artist-in-residence at LMCC/Workspace: 120 Broadway, and Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute's Create @ iEAR residency program. He has
received awards from the American Music Center, the Experimental
Television Center, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Media Alliance,
Rhizome, and Roulette. He completed his MFA in Music/Sound at Bard
College, where he is currently holder of the Joseph Hartog Fellowship. CV and additional samples are available upon request. |
